Turning the calendar to September marks a time of transition. As the days grow shorter and the evenings cooler, our schedules, both on the job and at home, shift in intensity.
The first Monday in September is a time of reflection and appreciation— when we recognize that all working men and women deserve the right to a meaningful wage, a safe work environment, and protections that extend to our families. We look back at what has been achieved, but we also look forward to everything we have yet to get done. For our working families the job never ends.
The NYSPFFA, together with the IAFF, ensures we have a voice and that our 18,000 members, and the International’s 300,000, are heard clearly— whether it be in City Halls, the State Capitol or in Washington DC. We are here because of you and for you; for the people you work alongside every day, and for the families and loved ones you cherish.
On this Labor Day, some of us will be on duty, ready to answer the call and provide vital service to our communities. Others will be finishing a shift, or preparing for the next. Perhaps you will enjoy time with friends and family. But however you celebrate this day, remember that we— the members of our union— all stand taller and stronger, together.
Be safe, Be strong.
