Legislative Update – Important – Action requested

Jun 8, 2018 | nyspffa_news

Brothers and Sisters,

Below is a link to a document for your review with some recently introduced bills that are of interest to us.  One bill in particular we would like to act on is a  bill sponsored by Weinstein in the Assembly, A10832 and Young in the Senate, S8871.  This bill would allocate more money to the comptrollers budget which would help hire some additional needed staff.  This additional staff should speed up the processing of disability and retirement applications.  This is especially important to a member unable to work due to a injury, is off the payroll, and is waiting for his disability application to be processed.  Please reach out to your respective assembly and senate contacts and urge their support of this bill.

Additionally, with just 7 session days left we will be working around the clock to get movement on our priority bills and agenda.  Please stay tuned and we will continue updating our matrix on the website and sending updates out via the phone application.  If you are not on the phone application we encourage you to sign up to get these important updates.

Have a great weekend and we will be in touch soon.

Fraternally,

Sam Fresina
