The Office of U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand and the Office of Congressman Paul Tonko in partnership with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) invite you to attend a workshop to prepare your department for the upcoming Assistance to Firefighters Grant application period.
The primary goal of the Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) program is to help fire departments and non-affiliated emergency medical service organizations meet their fire-fighting and emergency response needs. Since 2001, AFG has helped firefighters and other first responders to obtain critically needed equipment, protective gear, emergency vehicles, training, and other resources needed to protect the public and emergency personnel from fires and related hazards.
This workshop will help potential applicants understand the purpose of the AFG Program, funding priorities, award evaluation, and include a brief description of other AFG funding opportunities such as SAFER (Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response) and FP&S (Fire Prevention and Safety). The workshop will provide information regarding the application process and general assistance in writing a competitive narrative.
