The IAFF is accepting applications for the 2025 Harvard Trade Union Program (HTUP), scheduled for Jan. 13 – Feb. 14, 2025. HTUP is a 5-week, in-residence executive training program on the Harvard University campus.
The Harvard Trade Union Program welcomes a diverse group of union leaders and provides essential skills in leadership and explores key issues surrounding the labor movement. Its seminar-based curriculum offers participants the opportunity to meet a variety of faculty and senior labor leaders. More on the program is available here.
Three scholarships will be awarded to IAFF members living in the United States and in good standing with their Local affiliate. Applicants must demonstrate active involvement with their Local as an officer, committee member, or similar leadership capacity.
To apply:
- Submit the application form, along with:
- A brief statement of 250 words or more on how you have demonstrated active participation in your local.
- A short essay, of at least 500 words, responding to one of two questions:
- What is your personal interest in attending the Harvard University Trade Union Program and how will it benefit you professionally?
- What do you consider to be the major problem(s) facing the professional fire fighter within the labor movement in the United States today?
