Brothers & Sisters,
Last year's conference proved to be a success, with many positive reviews. This year, we are looking to build on our program, and conduct a full day of round table attorney discussions on several important topics, as per your request. Issues of importance that will be addressed include the Janus Case, which is set to be heard this spring. If the decision goes as expected, every public sector union will lose the right to Agency Shop. To put it simply, members will be afforded the same representation they now get, without having to pay dues. This will be the most important topic at our conference, we plan to spend a lot of time discussing the ramifications of this case and all possible legal avenues to mitigate it's affect.
We will also be discussing a case involving the City of Schenectady Police Union that may have an effect on discipline procedures, current PERB cases, and other information to help safe guard our rights and benefits. If you have any topics that you would like to be included, please let us know and we will make every effort to incorporate them into our program.
Our conference will remain at the Radisson Hotel in Corning this year, starting at 1pm Monday, February 26th and end around noon on Wednesday, February 28th. The registration fee, which we lowered last year, will remain at $250.00. We have also secured the same low rate for hotel rooms, which is $99.00 per night. Contact information below. Hotel cutoff for $99 rate is 2/8/2018
