We're sad to report that Duncan T. MacRae Sr., a former NYSPFFA Executive Vice President, passed away on January 1. Here is his obituary as published in the Journal News.
Duncan T. MacRae Sr., a W. Harrison resident, died January 1, 2014 at the age of 65. He was born December 12, 1948 in NYC to the late Roderick MacRae Jr. and Grace Lavin MacRae.
He was a graduate of White Plains High School and attended Fordham University. He then served in the U.S. Army and was a decorated veteran of Vietnam, serving with the First Cavalry Division and was awarded the Bronze Star, Air Medal and Army Commendation Medal.
Duncan served with the White Plains Fire Department, retiring as a Lieutenant. For many years, he was President of Local 274 of the International Assoc. of Firefighters, as well as holding the office of Executive Vice President of the State Union and was a labor relations consultant after retirement.
On August 12, 2000 he married Kathy Christ in Norwalk, CT. Besides his wife Kathy of W. Harrison, he is survived by his children, Timothy (Suzanna) MacRae of Charlotte, NC, Duncan T. MacRae Jr. of Mahopac Falls and Alison Covert of Mahopac Falls. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Ian and Tommy MacRae and his brother Roderick (Robin) MacRae III of Paterson, NY.
Visitation will be Sunday 6-9pm at the funeral home, where services will be held Monday at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Disabled American Veterans.
