As announced during the Governor’s COVID-19 briefing on Tuesday, Jan. 11th, the state would be changing its approach to contact tracing because of the winter surge, with positive cases up by four-fold since December 1.
Effective January 12, 2022, NY has moved to a more self-managed procedure when a person has either tested positive or been exposed to someone who tested positive, with a less active outreach by health departments – both on a state and a local level (whereas some local health depts may continue to conduct contact tracing).
Guidance is available for the public and for employers – along with Schools (K-12), on the State’s new website (www.ny.gov/isolation orwww.ny.gov/quarantine) which is now live. Included on the website are:
- Attestations to be used by people who have either been quarantined or isolated, to provide to their employers;
- Question and Answer information; and
- Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs).
Below are direct links to the guidance and resources currently available on the state’s new webpage.
